"Gold

, Health

"In its core
values statement on “stewardship,” Seattle-based, Catholic
health system Providence Health & Services quotes Psalm 24
and expands upon the chapter’s connection between heaven
and earth by stressing the need to care for God’s
creations. The health system recently demonstrated this
commitment with the opening of Providence Newberg Medical
Center, the first hospital in the country to earn a Gold
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
rating from the U.S. Green Building Council..."

"The
High-Tech Solution to Wayfinding",
(c)
Mark VanderKlipp,
FacilityCare.com, August 2007
"One of today's
hottest trends in wayfinding is interactive digital
signage — the use of electronic kiosks and flat-panel
screens that display instantly updated information of a
user's choice. In a hospital setting, where patients and
visitors are searching for information, and staff and
department locations change frequently, this high-tech
solution to provide multiple levels of easily updated
information may be just what the doctor ordered. However,
digital signage is not the right prescription for every
healthcare facility with ailing wayfinding. Factors such
as the capability of the facility's information technology
(IT) department to support the kiosk and the technological
comfort level of its patient population must be carefully
considered before plugging in an interactive wayfinding
solution..."

"Creating an Ergonomically Sound Work
Environment", (c) Joyce Bromberg, Healthcare Design

"Use of
electronic medical data, digital imaging, and wireless
communication in healthcare has significantly increased
the speed and accuracy of providing care. These
technologies have also dramatically changed the process,
workflow, and tasks performed by many specialties within
healthcare facilities. Radiologists represent one group of
professionals whose tasks have been radically transformed
over the past decade with the integration of medical
informatics and related technology..."
